At the Empire Hotels and Resorts, we are committed to making positive contribution to society and communities in Hong Kong and China, a place in which we operate and have grown over the past decade. Focusing our corporate responsibility and effort on imminent and important social issues, we shall endeavour to contribute, support and help to provide for those who most needed a great place to live, learn and grow.
The Art of Caring (since March 2009)
We believe that children are our future. Since early 2009, we have initiated a charity campaign entitled, 'The Art of Caring', through which we work to support and help local children and youth with disabilities in their education and health. Partnering with SAHK (formerly known as The Spastics Association of Hong Kong), a local rehabilitation service organization providing assistance to persons who are physically and mentally challenged due to neurological impairment via a wide range of education and welfare services in a holistic approach for over 45 years, this is our pilot program which we intend to extend to other charitable organizations or NGOs.
Key objectives
• We want to help the underprivileged children who may need financial aid for a better living environment, education and talent development opportunity.
• We aim to provide a channel and platform for these children to express themselves and demonstrate their abilities through art and drawings.
• As a responsible corporate citizen, we want to contribute to our society through forging a positive development of today’s children and youths.
As part of our CSR commitment, The Art of Caring, is poised to engage our future pillars in an activity to demonstrate their ability in drawing art, to express their emotions and feelings about themselves and their environs, to boost their self-confidence, as well as to polish their interpersonal skills, communications abilities and also team cooperation.
We have invited SAHK child/youth members to submit over 280 of their drawings and paintings with various themes whereby we will fully fund the program and a donation exceeding HK$120,000 will be provided to SAHK direct.
Using the combined resources and shared responsibilities, The Empire Hotels & Resorts and SAHK will bring valuable benefits to a select group of Hong Kong’s children and youths and create opportunities to others through the creation of this one-of-a-kind charity initiative.
276 drawings will be nicely mounted and hung on the walls in all of our guest rooms at our newly open Empire Hotel Hong Kong • Causeway Bay. Room guests are welcome to make a donation towards a purchase of the drawing in their rooms. You, too can express the art of caring by making a donation for the purchase of any drawings in the collection at HKD500* a piece (frame included). *Shipping and/or freight charges will apply for overseas donors.
